Valsity is a squarish slab-serif family with five weights and two widths, each with an italics for a total of twenty members. With negligible contrast, it is almost monoline. It is for decorative uses; it is too square and lacks the contrast to make it a good choice for extensive text. Valsity began with a blending of two other squarish slab-serifs, Valgal and Kwersity, and its name reflects that ancestry. From there it took on a life of its own, often diverging from its parents.

I designed this font a few years ago to address a direct problem. My work demanded small paragraphs of text to be screenprinted in a varsity font style. The house varsity was rather uneven and created small blobs of ink at sharp angles when printed. I designed Beau's Varsity to address both of these problems. The new font eliminated the blobbing, and I like to think my original design is a step up in evenness from the other options.

Vintage Varsity was inspired by that classic iron-on letterman jacket your "cool" uncle wore in high school (and lets be real, probably still wears today)... Pair with some fuzzy felt textures and you got yourself a killer duo! Strike the fill, throw a stroke on it, and design a retro-slogan t-shirt. Is this starting to sound like a cheesy infomercial? Good, I'm rolling with it. Have fun!

Now that there are more Studio K fonts than there are characters in the alphabet it occured to me that I should produce a sampler font that showcased them all: hence Variety. The 'What the font' experts amongst you should enjoy identifying individual characters, but to start you off, the featured fonts in the font title are, in order of appearance: Alma Mater Outline Shadow, Aspidistra, Signpost, Cafe de Paris, Showbiz, Barrowboy and Soft Rock.

Corner C is a part of Corner type family. This subfamily is designed with rounded shapes in the corners. The concept of the typeface Corner is based on variation of corner shapes in font characters, from what is also its name derived. The basis is a bitmap modular principle, to which by simple addition of “the missing pixels” in corners of the characters ( Corner A ) to the shape of diagonal ( Corner B ), curvature (Corner C), or inversion curvature ( Corner D ), three more font variations are created. The basic monolinear bitmap weight is supplemented by two more extreme thicknesses – hairline and fat weight. The character set supports the complete Latin, while the x-height of lowercase is drawn at the same height as in the uppercase characters. Corner is a strong display typeface, which allows you to easily experiment and to combine it with its mutual font variations.

It is an Extra Condensed, Extra Light, Extra experimental and Extra display font. Extra C is a fun font that doesn't take itself too seriously. Although the 70ties were very liberating and progressive, still girls played mainly with dolls and sweet things and boys with all kinds of challenging stuff. They did all sorts of basic scientific experiments in mini labs and of course built cool things with Meccano building sets. As a girl I was perfectly happy with the toys I had access to. But at the same time I was very curious about all the adventure toys and discoveries my brother did. It also made me wonder why the grown up people thought that our world could be separated so easily by separating our toys in pink and blue sections. At this day of age Meccano is probably hopelessly old fashioned and far to manual. Children of today are fed by fast images and cool animations on screen, they learn, play, communicate and relax in the same space, the digital space. The special feature of Meccano was that even though it was very basic there was the promise you could create anything. It might even contribute to a logical mind. The typeface I designed refers to the Meccano feel. It is a creative typeface. A bit masculine and bold looking perhaps but after the first impression a subtle and refined female touch is revealed. It has links to architecture and associations with metal constructions like ‘The Eiffel Tower’ and (old railway) bridges. I am convinced that we all think of that as very charming man-made objects.

Slightly erratic straight up brush tip handwriting script that was written with an ‘intoxicated’ hand, with a lot of very unique characters as a result. The overall font looks wild yet very readable. It includes all eastern European, Baltic, Scandinavian and Turkish characters.

ION C is a part of the ION superfamily, which consists of 3 families: condensed (ION A), normal (ION B) and wide (ION C), each having a compelling range of 10 weights. Styles Thin to Black have 436 glyphs supporting more than 70 Latin-based languages and the three heaviest weights, named U1, U2 and U3 have 94 basic glyphs. ION glyphs are based on the classic 7-segment display, but for readability and aesthetic reasons, some alphabetic characters don't follow this matrix strictly. In case you like things in order, don't worry, there's a stylistic set that replaces all characters with their strict alternatives. The special characters, such as #, @ or % are composed of special segments, but are designed to fit seamlessly within the whole character set. This font from the same family as Scripio A and Scripio B. The truth it more likely their cousin, very much it is not similar to them. Though looks not so bad.

A slightly roughened version of The Oldtype “Gutenberg B” Font, simulating irregularities and ink spreads associated with old metal types, papers and parchments. Apart from its rough appearance, which will be clearly noticed only at large point sizes, the font is identical to The Oldtype “Gutenberg B” Font. R&C is totally drawn with a ruler and a pair of compasses. It is advisable for technical drawing. By stacking its eight styles, all combinations are possible.

Ornata C is the third of a series of old ornaments that I am trying to save from oblivion. I am not just scanning these, I am completely redesigning the ornaments from scratch, thereby eliminating imperfections. These ornaments have been first designed by a designer named Ben Sussan. There is no bicameral Parity. It has been designed from scratch to be an exceptional unicase typeface, uncompromised by the priorities of mixed case or all-cap setting. Each glyph is shaped, proportioned and detailed for one purpose only: to optimize text set in the lining unicase format.

A Victorian type which, like so many others, was originally offered without a lowercase. As we do so often, we designed a matching lowercase for it. We also added a shaded version of the caps, figures and points of our earlier Vanities font. A nice companion face.

In the last scene of the movie trailer for 1937’s “Varsity Show”, the movie’s title is hand lettered in a bold, condensed chamfer font with semi-serifs. This is now available digitally in the namesake font “Varsity Show JNL” – in both regular and oblique versions.
